DEPILATORY

A product for removing body hair. Works by targeting the keratin in the hair. Once it disolves the keratin, the hair will fall out of its follicles. The trouble is, skin also has keratin, which is why depilatories can cause skin irritation and burns. This is why you should only use the kind of depilatory that is meant for specific parts of your skin; e.g., never use a depilatory for back hair on your pubes or face. Also, this is why you should test a depilatory on a small patch of skin 24 hours before using it in a larger area. Be sure to read and follow the instructions carefully. Do not use a depilatory after shaving. They can be more effective if you use them after you’ve been in the shower for awhile, as hair that is hydrated is easier for a depilatory cream to remove.
